Video Hosting

Wondering if I should move back to Vimeo. I am not sure I like YouTube having all my videos, and I need a good place to host teaching videos that I can use from semester to semester. The trouble with YouTube is that they make the viewer watch ads, and I’m not really into that if they have paid the tuition.

Vimeo is a bit expensive but I think it might be a good spot to host everything and keep it updated and accessible to students. Plus I am pretty sure I could make a lecture series and paywall the content there, unlike YouTube where you have to hope that someone finds the video – a million or more someones – before you are compensated.

Vimeo is kind of expensive but there really isn't a great option. Our canvas hosting doesn't have enough space on my campus. Plus I don't really like the idea of my IP being on their servers even though it could be argued that it is a for-hire creation if it came down to it. I still think I'd have a good case that I didn't have to make such creative or complex videos to teach that particular course. They are also probably going to be generic enough to where they are applicable to more than just the St. John's courses I am teaching.

Christmas Decorating Update

It’s going really well. I opened a box labeled decorations and found a number of generic, non-Christmas decorations. Pretty great!

I still haven’t opened all the boxes from my move in May. The reason is that I only take out what I need. If in May 2025 there are still sealed boxes, they can safely be thrown out. What’s inside wasn’t important enough to remember!

I have a vast Christmas playlist but the best album on there has to be Swedish singer Tommy Körberg. So good. First listen of the season today!!

I Love these AI Videos

I love this use of AI way too much. I am not sure if this is a corrupted use of AI or one that doesn’t give credit to the right people, but it cracks me up every time.

I was using AI images quite a bit in my posts but I’ve just switched to Unsplash these days. It will be hard to give up the AI art.

Somehow the sequences in these videos are predictable and unpredictable at once. Things morph into other things that make no sense with a very acceptable and predictable fluidity.

Gamestop has lost its mind

Gamestop what is wrong? Who hurt you?

This classic duo was kn the sale rack for $38. I cant imagine why it is still available. Who wouldn't want the useless professor and the evil French archaeologist together on display, the true emblems of the Indiana Jones franchise. If this was 15 dollars i would have bought it though for sure. What a weird combo.

This is not the philosopher but i wish it was. I learned since i took this photo that this is an anime character but still i wouldn't be off base for thinking there were some strange philosophy pop figures. I also found this in the bargain bin, big surprise!

I remember when GameStop sold games and wasn't a pops clearinghouse but they must sell a lot of these things.
